10 Subtle Ways For A Woman To Be More Classy And Elegant
Great article!! Thanks Rosemary! I do see that all the time in the workplace too! I shop in thrift. I find that the quality of clothes that are gently used, but maybe a few years old is better than something new today in some department stores. Plus they have some collars and sleeves. The new shirts have so little material.
Plus, you can get the older cut on pants. I don't like the "modern cut" pants. They fit on the hips, and I think it was just to save the manufacturers money. I like the "old cut" pants that fit on the waist.
Cheryl, you're right, many great items can be found in thrift stores. People often donate items that they grow tired of or grow out of even though they may be in perfect condition and of high quality.
I have found some great items from Thrift stores for both my home and my closet. The Goodwill store in our area regularly gets surplus donations from Target and other stores, so you can get brand new with tags items too. I totally agree. Ibought a pair of American Apparel high rise jeans, because I simply couldn't find a pair of Levis from the 80's, but if I had kept on looking I would have had a cooler pair of pants at a fraction of the price.
You just need to be patient, and you will be rewarded. So many of the older styles seem much more fresh after three decades of low rise everything, and shirts that are either four milers long or cropped.
Hello, I've been looking through your blog and love it. I have studied a few books on dressing classy, but every time I go shopping I can't seem to figure it out. Everything I bring home does NOT fit in the classy category.
I go shopping excited to buy "classy" items, but I end up wasting money and come home depressed. I am never able to achieve the classy look.
Do you have any tips for me? Thank you so much! Hi Sarah, it's great to hear you're enjoying my blog. I'm sorry to hear you're struggling in the wardrobe dept. It sounds as though you need to take a list in with you of classic basics. Once you have those, adding new blouses, tops, accessories and other pants will be easier for you.
The classic pieces which are your basics are the very core of your wardrobe. Once you have the awesome fitting pair of jeans, the tailored skirt, etc. There are also certain stores that you almost can't fail in when shopping. Remember, you're investing in quality so the core items will cost a bit more BUT they will last and you won't have to keep replacing them, instead just adding to what you already own in which case you can pick up an item here or there wherever makes sense afterwards.
You can email me for details. These are some great tips. I always thought you could only look classy with designer stuff because people could figure out the quality, but after reading your post I have a new perspective now, Thanks for sharing. Now I can feel confident about my look. I'm so glad to hear your found my post helpful, Javeriya and that you feel feel more confident about your overall look.
There are so many lesser expensive options compared to designer, it's all in the way its put together. You forgot to add: try to maintain a consistent weight! Yo-yo dieting or inconsistent lifestyle patterns can make a person lose and gain weight, which can get very expensive very fast with having to buy new clothes to fit your body Thank you for the tips. I am having a bit of a problem. My boyfriend says I dress like a tomboy despite me adding dresses and skirts and a few tops.
He said there isn't a happy medium from me dressing up in a dress to me wearing nice jeans and a t-shirt or a cute top. I'm not the latest fashion statement walking around but I try to look nice. My problem is finding what looks good on me. Do you have any advice? Hi there 'PrettyCowgirl', thanks for taking the time to comment.
I'm sorry to hear your boyfriend is not happy with your look. The most important thing though is how YOU feel about yourself, not him. It's nice to try new outfits that appeal to and wow our men but first and foremost, do it for yourself. If you're used to wearing a tee or a cute top, you can amp things up with a pretty blouse and a pair of pumps-mixing casual with dressy. One of the best ways to take your outfit to the next level is to add accessories too.
Perhaps adding a pretty pearl necklace with a lace top and some jeans will be just the thing. If you look at my main blog page, in the sidebar I have a link to my Pinterest page where I'm sharing Classy Fashion. There are lots of examples there for you to get ideas. Wondering how some women always look so pulled together? We all have a friend like this. Heads turn as she walks down the street and she leaves a scent of perfume in her wake. Her nails are perfectly manicured, she wears sunglasses on her head and her diamond studs are small enough to be real but large enough to be noticed.

How to Look Classy Part 2
Traditionally, a classy woman means to be stylish, superior and elegant, respectable and lovely. However, I find the traditional definition and ideas on what it means to be classy can be confusing. So I am here to hopefully explain once and for all, what it means to be classy. In slight contradiction to that, however — A classy woman does not judge herself regardless of what mistakes she might make. So the truth is — there are two aspects of being classy — there is the internal aspect and the external aspect.
I want to continue on how to look classy every day: when working or studying in college, when going out, hanging out with friends, etc. You can also read my blogs "How to Look Classy" parts 1 and 3 as well. Additionally, there are also blogs about winter and fall fashion, resort fashion, etc. I already spoke about how important trousers are in a classy wardrobe, but jumpsuits carry the same level of chicness, if not more!
